Dolphins-Bengals Week 16 Matchup Flexed Out of Primetime

If you were looking forward to watching the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals square off on Sunday Night Football in a few weeks, I have some bad news for you.

As of a short time ago, the NFL has officially decided that the battle between Tua Tagovailoa’s 6-7 Dolphins vs. Joe Burrow’s 4-9 Bengals will not be on Primetime for the entire world to witness. Instead, it will be flexed to a 1 PM EST game.

Instead of Miami and Cincinnati, the league has decided to flex the Baltimore Ravens matchup vs. the New England Patriots. As things stand, the Pats are currently the No.1 seed in the AFC. As for Baltimore, they’re No.2 in the AFC North and sit at 6-7 with Miami.

Both teams are hoping for a Christmas miracle and a Super Wild Card berth early next year.

ESPN’s NFL Insider, Adam Schefter was first to break the news.

The Miami Dolphins are currently 6-7 and play the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football in Week 15. Mike McDaniel’s team is currently on a 4-game winning streak — winning five of the last six — and QB Tua Tagovailoa got his first win in cold weather on Sunday.

Will he be ready to take on Mike Tomlin’s hard-nosed defense in below-freezing weather?

Everything could fall on his shoulders with De’Von Achane’s status up in the air and Pittsburgh selling out to stop the run. Can Tua rise to the occasion and keep Miami in the thick of things? Or is it too little too late for the Dolphins and their QB1?
