Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours.
The Miami Dolphins started the day by trading out of the fourth round and acquired the Houston Texans 2026 third round pick in the process. With how the draft played out, it’s pretty easy to see that this may be a soft rebuild for the Dolphins this year as they try to get younger. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
The team had three picks in the fifth round and beefed up the d-line some more by selecting DT Jordan Phillips (names sounds familiar). They also added two depth pieces in the secondary with CB Jason Marshall Jr. and S Dante Trader Jr.
In the sixth round the Dolphins drafted RB Ollie Gordon Jr, because Mike McDaniel loves his running backs. On a serious note, Gordon brings something entirely different to that room. He is a big, physical back and that is a trait this team has been targeting all offseason.
In the seventh round, they found a developmental quarterback in Quinn Ewers who will learn behind Tua Tagaovailoa and Zach Wilson. Ewers was expected to go earlier in the mid rounds and has some arm talent to work with. If they can develop him into a backup QB, that’s pretty good value. With their final pick of the draft the Dolphins yet again added another big body along the defensive line with Zeek Biggers and as his name suggest, he’s big (6-6, 321 pounds).
