Revenge of the Birds
The Arizona Cardinals are either the worst team in the NFL, with some of the worst coaching, decision making and on field product.
Or, they are once again not trying to win football games, which is the only thing everyone can agree on as the goal of the NFL.
Jonathan Gannon has 15 wins in almost three full seasons. For those not familiar with math, that is an average of five wins a season, which is not ideal if you are playing 17 games a season.
For Gannon, if he has convinced the owner to retain him for another season then he has also convinced him that tanking is the way to go.
The Cardinals efforts against the Los Angeles Rams were laughable at best, and downright offensive most of the time.
Yet, with their abysmal performance they gained no ground in their quest to jump into the top five of the 2026 NFL Draft.
In fact, they remain in the same spot they came into Sunday with.
Let’s take a look at the draft order.
The Cardinals would need two teams in front of them to win another game, not impossible since the Saints play the Jets and the Titans still, but the Cardinals cannot win their game against the Falcons.
Eventually, even if you are actively trying to lose, you have to win games for anyone to be convinced to play for you.
Yesterday’s loss basically looked like the Cardinals quit on Gannon, so will that change things over the final four weeks?
