Let’s take a look at this massive game
The Buccaneers are back after their bye week and are on the road in New York to take on the 2-8 New York Giants. New York has been in many headlines this week after benching Daniel Jones and the Bucs will have to be ready in order to snap their four game losing streak.
To break down this matchup a bit more, we sat down with Ed Valentine of Big Blue View to get a closer look at what is going on with the Giants.
(This interview was done before the Giants released Daniel Jones)
1. The big headline this week was the Giants benching Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. This move may essentially signal the end of the Jones era in New York. What went wrong?
“I would need HOURS to delve fully into that. Three head coaches, two GMs, several offensive coordinators, bad line play most of his tenure and a host of other things. In the end, the Giants are 2-8 with the worst offense in the league and there is an out in Jones’ contract at the end of the year. He wasn’t good enough, and it was time to move on.”
2. Sitting at 2-8, what does the future look like for head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen?
“To be determined. There are rumblings of unhappiness in the locker room with the handling of the quarterback switch. I think ownership wants to stay the course with Daboll and Schoen. We will see if the next seven games make that possible.”
3. When looking at this game, what’s one positional matchup you are looking forward to watching?
“I always look forward to seeing how teams try to deal with Dexter Lawrence. It takes more than one human being to do it, I know that.”
4. Finish the sentence, the Giants upset the Buccaneers if __
“If Tommy DeVito provides some type of spark to the offense. And, if the Giants can create some turnovers. They have one interception all year, and that came from a backup linebacker on a tipped pass in Week 1.”
5. How do you see this one shaking out and what is your score prediction?
“I really have no idea. I will take the Giants to win, 20-17, only because they are already 0-5 at home and I can’t imagine them ending up 0-9 in their own building. But, I have zero confidence in that pick. And may change my mind before Sunday. Or, 5 minutes after sending this to you.”
