Poll questions!!
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Washington Commanders fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in regular email surveys.
This week we have three questions in the Reacts survey.
Our first question this week is the one we ask every week — Do you feel confident in the direction of the franchise? We will track the results of this question throughout the season. For the past seven weeks, the confidence figure has been at 98% or 99% — the most consistent and highest of any fan base in the NFL. Will confidence stay at that high level the wake of back-to-back losses for the first time in the Dan Quinn era?
After looking like Superman to open the season, the Clark Kent version of Jayden Daniels was seen on the field against Philadelphia, and lots of people have lots of ideas about why that is. Dan Quinn opened his Monday meeting with reporters by making the following pronouncement about the rookie quarterback:
I want to first start off by saying clearly and honestly, Jaydenis not injured right now, but we did lose valuable practice time with him and his teammates when he was injured. And that’s hard on all the guys. It’s a really, really important part of what we do. And we don’t have banked reps in here, so we’re very much looking forward to getting back onto a full week and regular practice sessions with the guys. So, over the last few weeks we’ve had to put that together in small bits. So, that’s what I think into that space. And as we’re heading into this week, we’re looking forward to getting a full week of our practice and work the things that we need to.
l would say the rhythm and timing, I think is a big piece of it too. You have to be able to run things full speed. Walk-throughs are good to help where you do a line and where do you target, but you need the practice, you need the full speed reps to really let it rip and go. And so that’s why that’s such an important piece of what we do, the Wednesday, the Thursday, the Friday of the week. So, we’ll look forward to getting into some full weeks for sure.
Not everyone seems to be buying what Dan Quinn was selling on Monday.
In any event, prior to the Steelers game, Jayden Daniels was showing up as one of the leaders in the odds for league MVP. Following the Eagles game, he no longer seems to be a candidate:
Is our starting quarterback broken? Did he have a rough game on his first short week in the NFL? Was it just a case of two really good opponents? Or are reporters and fans over-reacting?
