The Indianapolis Colts (8-4) need a win on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4) as both teams currently sit atop the AFC South—with the winner having much better footing going forward to win the division outright.
Specifically, per PFF, the Colts’ playoff odds increase (at 78%) and decrease (at 34%) after a road win on Sunday in Jacksonville—with the difference obviously being pretty drastic respectively:
It won’t be easy for Indianapolis by any means.
Not only have the Colts lost 3 of their last 4 games, but Indianapolis hasn’t won in Jacksonville since 2014. It’s truly and rather shockingly been a personal house of horrors for the Colts during an embarrassing franchise streak.
It’s not as though Jacksonville has consistently had great teams during Indy’s surprising winless road drought in Jacksonville either.
The Colts also still have a Week 17 game hosting Jacksonville before traveling to the Houston Texans in Week 18 for the 2025 regular season finale—meaning there’s still a lot of divisional football left to be played this year.
A win on Sunday could ultimately go a long way toward the Colts securing the division down the season’s stretch, which of course, would also go hand-in-hand with making the playoffs with an automatic postseason berth. Having a home playoff game could also mean Indianapolis could be poised for at least a slightly deeper run.
