The Browns are 2-8 and the Steelers are 8-2, but you might not think that from the spread.
The Cleveland Browns opened as 4.5-point home underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their Week 12 match-up, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The game will be in prime time for Thursday Night Football, a short week for both clubs. The over/under on the game is currently 35.5.
The Browns (2-8) are coming off of a 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints, a game that all-but-erases their hopes at putting together some heroic playoff run. The game was 14-14 heading into the final quarter, but the defense couldn’t stop Taysom Hill in the Wildcat, the offense couldn’t keep pace, and the special teams unit had too many blunders. Now, Cleveland is left trying to play spoiler to an AFC North foe, which they did do to the Baltimore Ravens a few weeks ago.
The Steelers (8-2) have been playing very well, putting head coach Mike Tomlin as a frontrunner for coach of the year, and their defense has been one of the most consistent groups in the NFL. The Steelers rank 8th defensively in yards allowed, but are only allowing 16.2 points per game, second best in the NFL. Offensively, Pittsburgh ranks 19th in yards, with some peculiar rushing stats: they are 8th in rushing yards per game (136.7), but 26th in yards per carry (3.99).
The over/under for the game is 35.5, which is very low.
