The Chargers are paving the way for a number of players to return to the active roster — including running back Omarion Hampton — by waiving defensive tackle Naquan Jones, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Jones has appeared in eight games for the Bolts this year, totaling 10 tackles, one tackle for loss, and a pass deflection. The veteran tackle was part of the Chargers’ 2025 free agent haul, but the team has seemingly preferred the rotation of Teair Tart, Jamaree Caldwell, Da’Shawn hand, and Justin Eboigbe in recent weeks which makes Jones the odd man out in this situation.

Defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia is also set to come back from injured reserve this week, making the available spots even more scarce at this point in the season. If Jones clears waivers, he should land right back with the Chargers on the practice squad. If he does not, the Bolts will be down a rotational player with experience in their defensive scheme through the final stretch of the season.
