The Chargers are being flexed into primetime for the second time this season as they will now face the Broncos on TNF in Week 16.
The Chargers began the 2024 season with three games scheduled for primetime. Now as we inch closer to Sunday of Week 12, the Bolts officially have five after the NFL officially announced that they are flexing Chargers-Broncos from Week 16 to Thursday Night Football from Sunday afternoon.
It is the first time the NFL has ever flexed a game into Thursday Night Football.
Both the Chargers (7-3) and Broncos (6-4) are vying for one of the wild card seeds in this year’s playoffs. Were the season to end today, the Chargers would be the No. 5 seed while the Broncos would be the No. 7 seed.
A month from now, if both teams continue their strong play, this matchup could help decide playoff seeding and sometimes landing that first opponent who is a better matchup ends up being a big deal for postseason momentum.
Either way, the Bolts being flexed into primetime for the second time just goes to show that this is a team that people want to watch. That’s quite the difference from this time last year.
