The New York Giants were far from playoff contenders in 2025, but they still had a couple of things to get fans excited during the season.
The duo of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo was the best thing running in the Big Apple in 2025. Dart was electric, if reckless at times, and showed flashes of potential through the natural inconsistency that comes with being a rookie quarterback. On the other hand, Skattebo was a bowling ball in the backfield who turned out to be a very productive runner for the Giants as a rookie.
Unfortunately, the former Arizona State star saw his rookie year cut short by a gruesome ankle injury that he suffered in a Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He had surgery and was not able to return last season, but he is already ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Skattebo is on the field at New York’s minicamp this offseason and he is already looking healthy, per Patricia Traina of Sports Illustrated.
“Cam Skattebo did some agility drills earlier in the practice,” Traina reported on X, formerly Twitter. “Looked quick and fluid—and ready for training camp.”
New head coach John Harbaugh will be thrilled that Skattebo is ready to go as he gets ready for his second season. The bruising running back is a perfect fit for the physical identity that Harbaugh wants to establish in New York, but he was more than just a culture-setter as a rookie.
When Skattebo was on the field last season, he was an extremely productive back for the Giants offense. In eight games, he ran the ball 101 times for 410 yards and five touchdowns while also racking up 207 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver.
The Giants are also getting Malik Nabers back at some point in 2026 after he missed most of the season with a torn ACL, giving Dart and company another weapon to utilize. With everyone finally healthy in New York, this unit could be poised for a big breakout in the NFC.
