The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Gabe Davis to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and placed WR Curtis Samuel on injured reserve, the team announced on Friday.

Davis has four receptions for 62 yards in two games this season. He was elevated for the Bills’ last two games.

Davis signed with the Bills in early September, after taking two free agent visits with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’ll now play against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday.

Davis visited the Steelers earlier in the offseason and then came back to Pittsburgh for a second visit on Aug. 18. He left UPMC Rooney Sports Complex without a contract both times, with the Steelers hesitant to commit after a significant knee injury in 2024.

The day after his last visit to the Steelers, Davis took a visit to Buffalo, seeking a reunion with the Bills, where he spent his first four NFL seasons. A contract did not materialize at that time, but Buffalo re-signed Davis on the eve of the regular season.

Davis totaled 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns through 10 games in Jacksonville last season. The Jaguars released Davis one season into a three-year, $39 million contract with a failed physical designation this spring.

Over four seasons before that with the Bills, he pulled in 163 passes for 2,700 yards and 27 touchdowns, and was a key downfield threat for Josh Allen.

Overall, Davis has 186 career receptions for 3,009 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns across 75 games played (57 starts) between the Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars. His highest-yardage season was in 2022 with the Bills, when he recorded 836 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 48 receptions.

Davis had three receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills’ 38-3 win over the Steelers in Orchard Park in 2022. Davis had a 98-yard touchdown and a 62-yard TD.
