Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made a bold statement about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
There is not a ton of respect between division rivals the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. However, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had a very surprising take on former Packers and current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
When asked who the greatest quarterback of all time is, Williams responded with an unsurprising Tom Brady, followed with Rodgers in his No. 2 spot.
“I mean, Brady,” Williams told Heavy Sports. “When you go seven Super Bowls it’s hard to…there’s not anybody close. And so it gets hard to debate that. I put Brady as number one, and for me, Aaron Rodgers is probably number two.”
Rodgers was long gone from the NFC North by the time Williams was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but Rodgers had a dominating career against the Bears with an all-time record of 25-5.
The two almost had the chance to play for the first time in Week 12 of last season, but Rodgers missed the game with a fractured wrist. In his absence, Steelers backup quarterback Mason Rudolph was unable to get the job done, falling to Williams and the Bears 31-28.
That didn’t stop Rodgers from having yet another productive season, though. He was still able to lead the Steelers to an AFC North title while passing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and just seven interceptions at 42.
That is exactly why Rodgers should be viewed among the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and maybe just behind Brady at No. 2.
A first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Packers, Rodgers has thrown for 66,274 yards, 527 touchdowns and 123 interceptions in his professional career.
