Troubled former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown was released from jail on Thursday. Video shows him leaving the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County with his attorney.

Brown entered a plea of not guilty to second-degree attempted murder on Tuesday through his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, after being extradited from Dubai to New Jersey on Friday. He stands accused of shooting a gun at another man during a boxing event in Miami in May. Brown has claimed that he was the victim of an attempted robbery, and he was only defending himself.

Antonio Brown left the country before Miami-Dade police could file an arrest warrant against him. While traveling in the Middle East, visiting Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, Brown made several social media posts. Several involved him proclaiming his innocence and claiming he is a victim of racial profiling, among other things.

Antonio Brown won’t be traveling anywhere for a while

A judge granted Brown, who appeared at the bail hearing via Zoom, a bond set at $25,000 on Wednesday. He was placed on house arrest and fitted with a GPS ankle monitor.

Antonio Brown’s attorney spoke with Associated Press on Tuesday. He said, “The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defense against the alleged victim’s violent behavior. Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself.”

Eiglarsh also claimed that Antonio Brown “didn’t flee to Dubai” and that, despite living overseas for the past six months, he “always had a desire and intention to answer this case.” U.S. Marshals working with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office used Brown’s social media posts from Dubai to monitor his whereabouts while out of the country.

“God is great,” the 37-year-old Brown told reporters as he left the jail. He now faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 if he’s convicted on the second-degree attempted murder charge.
