The Philadelphia Eagles‘ once-explosive offense has been a major disappointment this season. If it weren’t for their infamous “Tush Push,” they wouldn’t be able to move the chains as often as they do.
New offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo hasn’t been able to get the most out of running back Saquon Barkley. Perhaps more worrisome, he has turned wide receiver A.J. Brown into one of the most expensive decoys in history.
Analyst Brenden Deeg recently revealed a concerning stat about Brown’s routes in the passing game.
“A.J. Brown has run only 14 crossing routes this season, via TruMedia. 137 pass-catchers in the NFL have run more crossing routes than him. Most coaches would look at Brown and go, ‘Let’s get this beast running routes over the middle all the time,'” Deeg wrote on X.

Brown has proven what he’s capable of when he’s heavily involved. He’s one of the most physically imposing and dominant players in the game, and he would be the WR1 on almost every team in the league.
He has been quite vocal about his discomfort with the team. He can be extremely tough to deal with in these situations, yet the Eagles are either unwilling or unable to do anything about it.
General manager Howie Roseman reportedly shut down multiple trade inquiries about him. Yet, unless things change drastically, it’s hard to envision any scenario in which he won’t force his way out of Philadelphia this offseason.
The Eagles’ offense has been stagnant, predictable and boring. Though they’re winning games, there are legitimate reasons to be worried about the team in the postseason.
