2026 NFL Draft: Steelers AGM Scouts Top WR Prospect

2026 NFL Draft: Steelers AGM Scouts Top WR Prospect
Steelers Now Steelers Now

The Pittsburgh Steelers have spent two straight offseasons searching for answers at the wide receiver position after trading Diontae Johnson in 2024 and George Pickens this May.

While general manager Omar Khan is working the phones in advance of Tuesday’s trade deadline, assistant general manager Andy Weidl might be looking for a way to solve the problem for years to come.

Weidl was spotted on the sideline before the Penn State at Ohio State in Columbus, and one of the top prospects in that game is Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate.

In seven games this season, Tate has 34 catches for 587 yards and six touchdowns and seems poised to take the mantle from Garrett Wilson, Jaxson Smith-Njigba and Emeka Egbuka as Ohio State wide receivers with success at the next level.

Tate is currently projected as the No. 18 overall player in the 2026 NFL Draft class, according to the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board, and the Steelers would pick at No. 19 if the season ended today — and interesting coincidence.

While the Steelers have been focused on a trade-up at quarterback, it’s clear they also need help at wide receiver.
